Or

2) Enter 0 (the number zero) when prompted for an IP address.

---

To start as a server or host

1) Press enter when prompted for an IP address

2) Wait for all your friends to connect to GIMP.  You’ll see a notice for each one like “123.45.67.89 sent me their IDF list”

3) After all your pals connected, press enter.  This will calculate shared IDFs and send lists out to them.

4) GIMP will move around your IDFs and start 1nsane as a server.

---

To start as a client connecting to a host or server

1) Enter the host’s IP address when prompted.

2) GIMP will try to connect to the host and send your IDF list to them.  It then waits for a response of shared IDFs.  You just sit back and wait for the host to respond.

3) Upon receiving the shared IDF list, GIMP will move around your IDFs and start 1nsane as a client.

Troubleshooting

v     Q: My name shows up as ‘Player’!

A: Set your nickname in the config file, autoidf.txt

v     Q: GIMP can’t connect to anyone, or people can’t connect to me.
A: You need port 7000 open if you use a firewall (it’s the old CMN port).

v     Q: How do I use it with Gamespy?
A: Setup instructions are in the readme, gimpREADME.txt.  There is no interaction or keys to press when using through Gamespy.
